I would like to inform you that your joint appeal as former Sakharov Prize winners calling on the Burmese authorities to immediately release Aung San Suu Kyi from house arrest has been very much appreciated by the President of the European Parliament, Mr Hans Gert Pöttering , who has issued his own statement which you will find attached.
